Wrongful Termination of Chief Devlin
Parking Ordinance
Recently, the town council changed the parking ratio from 1 spot per 100 sq ft of patron area, to 1 spot per 50 sq ft of patron area. This has and will continue to devalue properties and leases, and lead to a loss of patron parking spaces for establishments and lost revenues for our local businesses. Commercial property value is also based partly on the value the leases are worth. This parking ordinance will harm this value and lead to a decaying commercial district.
This one ordinance alone will significantly impact the right to commercially develop or redevelop our property by applying restrictive government regulations. By doubling the needed parking spaces, it is greatly reducing the ability of our local shop owners and businesses to thrive.
Low Speed Vehicle Ordinance
Your current council has now banned low speed vehicles, including mokes. These street legal vehicles along with shuttles that run into unincorporated areas of Fenwick Island, cannot be operated in town limits any further. This is bad for business, and once again restricts our own citizens from using these vehicles to move around the community.
Our Tax Dollars in Smoke
Nearly $200,000 in our tax dollars have been spent on legal fees from 2018-2022. The restrictive anti-business practices of the town have led to litigation, and it continues to this day.
Assessed property values will drop with all of these code changes resulting in higher personal taxes for you! Read More.
